Attorney Review Required

This policy describes the personal information nu Avanti collects today, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices available to you. It is a pre-launch draft written to match our actual implementation rather than an aspirational one.

Pre-launch draft. This page contains placeholder language that must be reviewed by legal counsel before nu Avanti launches. Sections needing attention are marked “Note for review”.

1. Who we are

nu Avanti is a private community intended for people 50 and over who live abroad or are planning a move. Membership is open to anyone who confirms they meet that age; there is no invitation process. In this policy, "we" and "us" mean the nu Avanti operating entity that runs the website and web application.

2. Current scope of this policy

Today nu Avanti operates a marketing website with a waitlist, account sign-up and sign-in, a profile onboarding flow, community conversations, member Right Now invitations, and the reporting, blocking and moderation processes that support them. Moderation involves keeping a record of reports, decisions, reasons, member standing and appeals. Features described elsewhere on our site as planned — including member discovery, private messaging, groups, official events, and native mobile apps — are not yet live. This policy will be updated before any of them process personal information.

3. Information you provide

Waitlist details
The email address you submit and, where you provide it, the location you are interested in.
Account details
Your email address and either a password (stored by our authentication provider as a salted hash) or the identifier returned when you choose to sign in with Google or Apple.
Profile content
Preferred name, life chapter, location, interests, connection goals, and a profile photo, if you choose to add them during onboarding.
Messages to us
Anything you send when you contact us, including support and privacy requests.

4. Information collected automatically

  • Technical request data, including IP address, needed to deliver the service and to apply rate limits.
  • Bot-protection results from the challenge shown on our waitlist, sign-up, sign-in, and password-reset forms.
  • Server-side operational logs, which pass through a redaction step intended to remove email addresses, identifiers, and tokens.

5. Why we use your information

  • To operate the waitlist, create your account, and build the profile you choose to complete.
  • To help protect the service and the community: bot protection, rate limiting, abuse prevention, and enforcement of our policies.
  • To communicate with you about your account, service changes, and community updates.
  • To comply with legal obligations, and to establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.

6. Information you choose to share about yourself

Some details a member may choose to add — for example relationship intentions — could be treated as sensitive personal information in certain jurisdictions. Providing that information is optional, and we do not use it for advertising.

7. How we share information

We do not sell personal information, and we do not use third-party advertising trackers. We share information with the service providers that host and operate the platform on our instructions, and where we are required or permitted to do so by law.

8. International transfers

nu Avanti intends to launch in Europe, and information may be processed outside your home country by our providers. Where that happens we intend to rely on transfer mechanisms recognised under applicable law.

9. How long we keep information

We generally keep your profile while your account is open. When you delete your account, we delete your profile records and photo files from our systems as described on the deletion page. Backups held by our infrastructure providers may retain copies for a limited period until they expire on their normal cycle.

10. Security

We use commercially reasonable technical and organisational measures designed to protect member information. No online service can be completely secure, and we do not represent that our measures will prevent every unauthorised access.

12. Children

nu Avanti is intended for adults. The service is not directed at anyone under 18, and we ask that people under 18 do not create an account.

13. Changes to this policy

When we make a material change we will update the version history on this page and aim to notify registered members before the change takes effect.
